so i'm learning about web optimization, and am wondering if any of you could share some insight as to what you're doing to increase traffic to your sites. i get a fair amount of traffic from adwords, and also i've been climbing up on organic searches on google. but i'm interested in targeting my audience better.

anyone?

Hi Myra!

The most immediate thing you could do would be to take out online advertisements. Make sure that any sites that you take out an ad on has a page rank higher than yours. To check this, you'll need google toolbar. You can get it at www.toolbar.google.com -- once you get it and it's installed, click settings, options, More and click the checkbox that says Pagerank. You'll then see a bar in the middle of your screen that says PageRank and will show a bar to indicate the rank of the page that you're on. Hove over it to see the number. This page rank is a system that google uses to mark popularity of a site. This is based on how many links are pointed at the site as well as traffic that the site receives (among other super secret google stuff I'm sure).

As for on-site tricks to moving up in organic searches, you can take your top few keywords and create content pages about each one (250 words minimum on each, full of keywords). Then you'll link each content page from your home page text.

Good luck, let us know if you have any further questions!
